ADKAR model
The structure of a change program is based on Prosci®’s ADKAR model.
The ADKAR model for change management consists of five steps:
- Awareness – Create understanding of the ‘why’ behind the change by clearly communicating the necessity, risks of not changing, and the urgency, ideally through senior management.
- Desire – Engage employees by addressing what the change means for them, with supervisors responding to concerns and questions.
- Knowledge – Provide employees with the knowledge needed for the transition and the new skills required, making training more effective.
- Ability – Ensure support in daily tasks to successfully handle the new situation, such as time, coaching, or a learning platform.
- Reinforcement – Anchor the change by celebrating successes and offering additional training to prevent regression to old practices.
While these steps appear straightforward, practical application is often challenging: employees may not progress through the phases at the same pace, and sometimes it’s necessary to revisit steps to reinforce motivation or knowledge.

Blended Learning
We believe in combining multiple learning styles. This includes live sessions, such as:
- Kick-off with the program sponsor
- A training actor to practice handling resistance
- Demo of the new system
- Presentation from another company that has faced the same challenge
In addition, we believe in the power of short videos. These can be hosted on your own platform, or we can make them available on our UpGrade platform. Each video includes a brief assignment to help the topic resonate with participants.
